In addition to spectacular scenery, George and the surrounding area offers something for everyone. For those who enjoy the great outdoors, there are excellent facilities for cycling, hiking, horse riding, canoeing, sailing and fishing. The very adventurous may even like to try their hand at paragliding, surfing or quad biking! Nature lovers will enjoy birdwatching almost anywhere in the area and the Garden Route Botanical Garden in George and nearby game reserves offer visitors the chance to learn about South Africa’s amazing variety of flora and fauna.

Golfers will be spoiled for choice as some of the best courses in South Africa are right on our doorstep. The highly acclaimed George Golf Club is just five minutes from our guesthouse, as is the world-renowned Fancourt Estate where visitors will be warmly welcomed at the Bramble Hill course. Other fine golfing venues, including Oubaai, Mossel Bay and Pinnacle Point (the new Darren Clarke-designed course) are all within 30 minutes’ drive and the ‘must play’ Pezula and Simola courses in Knysna are only an hour away.

If sightseeing tours are more to your taste, you’ll have endless options. A visit to the ‘ostrich capital’ Oudtshoorn, the awe-inspiring Cango Caves and Swartburg Pass, winetasting at the local Herold estate, the Outeniqua Hop country drive and a scenic steam train ride on the Outeniqua Choo -Tjoe from George to Knysna are all highly recommended.
